Student Progress Conferences
We will host two nights of virtual conferences this fall on October 5 and 14 from 5:00-8:00pm each night. We hope that you will be able to meet with teachers and have a chance to gain and share information on your student’s progress. Each teacher has a Sign Up Genius so you can reserve a time and we have a master list of Zoom links for each teacher for you to use at the time of each conference.
If these dates do not work for you or if you prefer an in person meeting, please contact your student’s teacher directly. Additionally, some faculty members have unavoidable conflicts and are not available during these times. Please contact them to schedule another time to meet.
- Link to list of Sign Up forms for each teacher
- Zoom links for each teacher (The passcode should be WAHS for all Zoom links)

Thank you for partnering with us to support your student,

Dear Western Families,
Spirit Week at Western Albemarle High School is filled with fun activities. This year Spirit Week starts on Friday, October 8th and ends with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday October 16th. This year’s theme is Fantasy. The charity the student body will be donating money to is the local International Rescue Committee. To help with your family’s schedule, a list of activities and expectations is indicated below. We encourage all students to participate throughout the week!
Please note that we are taking precautions at every step to keep students safe while having fun. Masking and social distancing guidelines will be followed at all events and as many activities are being planned for outdoors as possible. There will be several class competitions held during Warrior Period as well as outdoor games at lunch. Each morning, there will also be dress up items in the main office for students to pick-up and wear for the theme that day.
Given the nature of the last two years, we are hoping to make this a really special and fun Spirit Week with as many free events and merchandise as possible while maintaining a safe environment. Because fundraising efforts have been very difficult we are in need of extra support this year. If you would like to make a direct donation to help cover the cost of Spirit Week and Homecoming we greatly appreciate your support. Please make checks payable to WAHS and add “Leadership” in the memo. The more we raise, the more we can do. Thank you in advance for any help you can give!

Masks will be required at all times other than eating.
Saturday, October 16th – Homecoming Dance: 7-9 pm on the WAHS Turf Field
Homecoming Dance tickets will be on sale during lunch through Spirit Week. Tickets will NOT be available the day of the dance or at the door. The dance will last from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Homecoming is a semi-formal event and appropriate dress is expected for students. All clothes need to pass dress code. Students must wear a mask at all times and dance with spacing of 3 feet apart. We encourage you to talk with your student about safe behavior at the dance. Our expectation is for students to have fun, but to dance appropriately and follow mitigation protocols. If students cannot follow the rules they will be asked to leave. Due to the nature of the turf field, all students will need to wear flat shoes. Unfortunately, due to numbers, non-Western students will not be allowed as guests this year.
We wish everyone a safe and happy Spirit Week,

Beginning November 8, 2021, Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS) will require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination for any student participating in Virginia High School League (VHSL) winter and spring sports for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year.
This includes all sports that require a completed VHSL Physical Form prior to participation, including all ‘out-of-season’ workouts, and club sports such as Mountain Biking and Rowing. This does not include VHSL activities at this time (Debate, Forensics, Theatre, Scholastic Bowl, eSports).
The Virginia Department of Education classifies athletics as a high-risk activity. We are committed to providing as safe an environment as we can for our student-athletes. Vaccinations are a critical step in mitigating both the spread of COVID-19 and its severity. It also can minimize disruptions to the athletic season and to the ability of families to attend these events. As an alternative, any student who chooses not to be vaccinated will need to submit a negative COVID-19 test result no later than 4:00 p.m. on each Monday to the school’s Nurse to remain eligible to participate in practices and/or competition. Families will be responsible for the cost of individual testing.
At the present time, nearly eighty (80%) percent of all students between the ages of 12 and 17 in Albemarle County are fully vaccinated. We are working with the Blue Ridge Health District (BRHD) to ensure that all other students will have access to the COVID-19 vaccine before November 8, 2021. There are multiple health district vaccination sites available for your convenience (detailed below). Please CLICK HERE to schedule your appointment..
Please note the following dates for vaccination clinics at our high schools:
- Wednesday, September 29, 2021

- Friday, October 1, 2021
- Albemarle High School (Small Gym)

Acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination to satisfy this requirement includes the COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (actual or photo) or a printed record of your COVID-19 Vaccination Record from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). CLICK HERE to search and print your record if you do not have access to your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card. If you have plans to try out for a Winter or Spring sport, please submit your proof of vaccination to your school’s Nurse as soon as possible.
Please CLICK HERE for detailed information regarding the ACPS Athletics Vaccination Requirement, including answers to many Frequently Asked Questions.
Thank you for continuing to support our students and staff and our ongoing commitment to providing as safe of an environment as we can for all of our students and staff.
